John Joseph London

Registration Number: D14434

Richmond Hill, Ontario

HEARING DATE:  May 24, 2007

MISCONDUCT: Ont. Reg. 991, ss. 14(1), (4); 15(4), (6)

PARTICULARS OF THE COMPLAINT:

John Joseph London was charged with failing to discharge his duties to clients, members of the public, fellow members and insurers with integrity.  He was also charged with failing to be both candid and honest when advising the member’s clients.   The charges resulted from Mr. John Joseph London incorporating an insurance company and depositing some client premium payments into the bank account of that insurance company rather than the trust account of the brokerage of record.  Some clients of Mr. London were instructed to make their premium payments payable to the incorporated insurance company.  John Joseph London owes client premiums to the brokerage of record.

DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE’S DISPOSITION:

The Discipline Committee noted that John Joseph London did not renew his RIBO license for the renewal period 2006/2007, and therefore in October 2006 his RIBO license was deregistered for non-renewal.

The Discipline Committee found that it had jurisdiction to hear the matter as the events in question occurred during the time John Joseph London was registered with RIBO.

The Discipline Committee further found that there was sufficient evidence in support of the plea of guilty entered by John Joseph London to the allegations of misconduct, and ordered:

       (a)    That a recommendation be made to the Qualification and Registration Committee that they not consider any application for reinstatement by John Joseph London for a period of five (5) years, commencing from the date of the Order.
