Mr. Michael Majeed/Majid was served with a Notice of Proposal to Review and Revoke Certificate of Registration by the Qualification and Registration Committee on the grounds that he provided false or misleading information to the Corporation:
(a) he failed to disclose to RIBO the revocation of his Agents Licence by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (“FSCO”) on September 14, 2007 and,
(b) previously had made an application to RIBO under a different name,
which placed him in non-compliance with the qualification requirement of Ontario Regulation 991 section (5)1)(a)(ii), requiring a member to be of good character and to have demonstrated reasonable grounds for belief that he or she will carry on business in accordance with law, integrity and honesty.
Upon serving Mr. Majeed/Majid with the Notice, the Qualification and Registration Committee did not receive a request for a hearing in this matter.
After reviewing all of the material submitted by RIBO, and upon hearing representations made by counsel for the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario, the Committee, pursuant to its authority under Section 14(7) of the Registered Insurance Brokers Act, confirmed the Proposal to Review and Revoke the registration of Mr. Michael Majeed/Majid and revoked his registration as of April 15, 2008.
