HEARING DATE: November 15, 2021 MISCONDUCT: Ontario Regulation 991, ss 14.1, 14.3 and 14.4 PARTICULARS OF THE COMPLAINT: At all material times, Darian Carrington, was a registered insurance broker, sponsored by a brokerage and conducting business in the Oshawa, Ontario area.
As a result of information RIBO staff received from a consumer, it appears that Darian Carrington may have committed misconduct by:
• altering an insurance certificate with coverage that did not exist on the corresponding insurance policies; and
• presenting this certificate of insurance as a valid representation of the insurance coverages on the corresponding insurance policies.
DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE’S DISPOSITION: The Discipline Committee approved a consent agreement between Darian Carrington and RIBO, and ordered:
(a) that Darian Carrington is hereby formally reprimanded for his actions in this matter. (b) that Darian Carrington’s RIBO membership is hereby suspended for 30 days commencing from the date of this Order in this matter. During this suspension Mr. Carrington will remain subject to the continuing jurisdiction of RIBO for all purposes of the RIB Act, but he will not be allowed to act as an insurance broker (c) that Darian Carrington apply and successfully complete the Ethics and the Insurance Professional course from the Insurance Institute within 1 year (365 days) of the date of this Order. (d) that should Darian Carrington be in non-compliance of not applying and completing the Ethics and the Insurance Professional course within 1 year (365 days) of the date of this Order, Darian Carrington’s membership with RIBO will be suspended effective the 365 th day after the date of this Order and will remain suspended until Darian Carrington complete the Ethics and the Insurance Professional course. (e) that should Darian Carrington successfully complete the Ethics and the Insurance Professional course after 1 year (365 days) has passed from the date of this Order. Darian Carrington will not be allowed to act as an

insurance broker until he gets a written confirmation from RIBO that his registration with RIBO is in good standing.
