Kristy Grey Registration Number: D28747 Ajax, Ontario

HEARING DATE: March 25, 2021 MISCONDUCT: Ontario Regulation 991, ss. 15.11 PARTICULARS OF THE COMPLAINT: At all material times during which the offences took place, as specified by the Ontario Court of Justice Adult Conditional Sentence Order, Kristy E. Grey was a registered insurance broker conducting business in the Town of Ajax.

DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE’S DISPOSITION: The Discipline Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Committee”) accepted evidence from RIBO staff that after several attempts by their Process Server to serve Ms. Kristy Grey with the Notice of Hearing and Direction without success, Ms. Grey was alternatively served with the Notice of Hearing and Direction by registered mail at her last known address given to RIBO. The Committee agreed that they had jurisdiction to hear this matter. The Hearing proceeded without Ms. Grey or any representation on her behalf. A plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf.

The Committee received and accepted submissions made, and evidence adduced by RIBO in the proceedings which included the Investigation Report dated April 1, 2019 and marked as Exhibit 3 in the proceedings; the Adult Conditional Sentence Order signed and dated March 28, 2019 and marked as Exhibit 4 in the proceedings; and the Prohibition Order (Financial Employment/Volunteer Work) signed and dated March 28, 2019 and marked as Exhibit 5 in the proceedings.

The Committee also heard the testimony of RIBO staff, the Senior Investigator in the matter and was provided with evidence showing that Ms. Kristy Grey was charged and convicted of a criminal offence by the Ontario Provincial Court while she was an Insurance Broker at the time and found that Ms. Kristy Grey was guilty of misconduct and particularly Section 15(11) of Ontario Regulation 991 and the particulars of the complaint as set out in the Direction.

The Committee found that there was sufficient evidence to find Ms. Kristy Grey guilty. The Committee, therefore, ordered:

(a) that Ms. Kristy Grey’s Certificate of Registration be revoked effective Immediately.

2 (b) that a recommendation be made to the Qualification and Registration Committee that Ms. Kristy Grey not be able to apply for a Certificate of Registration for a minimum of 5 years.
