PARTICULARS OF THE COMPLAINT:
At all material times Karen Jean-Giles was a registered insurance broker conducting business in Burlington, Ontario.
As a result of information RIBO received from a client of Karen Jean-Giles, it appears that Karen Jean-Giles may have committed misconduct by charging an administration fee to her client to place his auto coverage.
DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE’S DISPOSITION:
The Discipline Committee accepted the plea of guilty by Karen Jean-Giles and accepted the evidence adduced by RIBO in support of the plea of guilty, including an Agreed Statement of Fact and Joint Submission as to penalty, signed on December 6, 2018 by Karen Jean-Giles and found that Karen Jean-Giles was guilty of misconduct as set out in the Direction. The Discipline Committee, therefore, ordered:
(a) that Karen Jean-Giles be reprimanded for her actions.
