PARTICULARS OF THE COMPLAINT:

 

At all material times during which offences took place, Robin Van Luit was a registered insurance broker conducting business in the Prescott, Ontario area.

 

At the time of Ms. Luit’s criminal conviction, her registration status with RIBO was “Deregistered.”

 

As a result of information published in a newspaper, it appears that Robin Van Luit may have committed misconduct by being convicted of a criminal offence in the Ontario Court of Justice on May 1, 2017.

 

DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE’S DISPOSITION:

 

The Discipline Committee approved Consent Agreement between Robin Van Luit and RIBO, and ordered:

 

(a)          That the Certificate of Registration of Robin Van Luit be hereby revoked effective May 24, 2018.

 

(b)          That a recommendation be made by the Discipline Committee to the Qualification and Registration Committee (“Q & R Committee”) that they not allow Robin Van Luit to reapply for registration for a period of not less than five (5) years from the date of the Order.

 

(c)          That if the Q & R Committee accepts Robin Van Luit’s application for reinstatement of the Certificate of Registration, she must first take and successfully pass the RIBO Level 1 exam.

 

(d)          That if the Certificate of Registration of Robin Van Luit is reinstated it will be restricted to “Acting Under Supervision” for a period of no less than five (5) years.
