REGARDING the Insurance Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. I.8, as amended, in particular sections 392.4 and 407.1
AND REGARDING Edward Szymkiewicz Anthony
ORDER TO REFUSE LICENCE APPLICATION
On August 25, 2017, the Superintendent of Financial Services (“Superintendent”) issued a Notice of Proposal to Refuse Application regarding the insurance agent licence application of Edward Szymkiewicz Anthony (“Mr. Anthony”). On September 14, 2017, Mr. Anthony requested a hearing before the Financial Services Tribunal (the “Tribunal”) in respect of the Notice of Proposal to Refuse Application.
On April 4, 2018, the Tribunal issued a Notice of Intent to Dismiss Proceedings in this matter, due to Mr. Anthony’s lack of participation in the hearing process. Mr. Anthony did not make submissions in respect of the Notice of Intention to Dismiss Proceedings.
On May 23, 2018, the Tribunal issued a decision in respect of the Notice of Intention to Dismiss Proceedings and ordered the Superintendent to carry out the Notice of Proposal to Refuse Application against Mr. Anthony.
ORDER
The application for an insurance agent licence of Edward Szymkiewicz Anthony is hereby refused.
