REGARDING the Insurance Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. I.8, as amended, in particular sections 392.4 and 407.1 (the “Act”)
AND REGARDING Benjamin Lee
ORDER TO REFUSE APPLICATION
On June 6, 2016, Benjamin Lee submitted an application for a General Insurance Agent licence under the Insurance Act (the “Act”).
On February 3, 2017, the Superintendent of Financial Services (“Superintendent”) issued a Notice of Proposal (“Notice”) to Refuse the application for a General Insurance Agent licence of Mr. Lee. The Notice was sent to Mr. Lee on February 3, 2017 and received on February 6, 2017. Mr. Lee had 15 days to request a hearing before the Financial Services tribunal (“Tribunal”).
On February 24, 2017, the Registrar of the Tribunal confirmed that no request for a hearing has been received from Mr. Lee, or anyone on his behalf.
Subsection 407.1(7) of the Act provides that the Superintendent may carry out the proposal to refuse the application when no hearing has been requested.
ORDER
The application by Benjamin Lee for a General Insurance Agent licence is hereby refused.
