REGARDING the Insurance Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.I.8 (the “Act”), in particular sections 288.5, and 288.7
AND REGARDING 8082529 Canada Corporation carrying on business as Milton Medical Centre
ORDER
On August 26, 2014, 8082529 Canada Corporation applied to be licensed under the Act as a service provider.
On November 26, 2014, the Superintendent of Financial Services (“Superintendent”) issued a Notice of Proposal to Refuse Application and the Notice of Proposal, along with reasons, was served on 8082529 Canada Corporation on November 27, 2014.
8082529 Canada Corporation had 15 days after service of the Notice to request a hearing before the Financial Services Tribunal (“Tribunal”) in accordance with section 288.7(3) of the Act.
The Registrar of the Tribunal has confirmed that no request for a hearing has been received from 8082529 Canada Corporation or anyone on its behalf.
Section 288.7(7) of the Act provides that the Superintendent may carry out the proposal to refuse to issue a licence when no hearing has been requested.
ORDER
The application for a service provider licence submitted by 8082529 Canada Corporation on August 26, 2014, is refused.
