REGARDING the Insurance Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. I.8, as amended, in particular sections 392.4 and 407.1
AND REGARDING Jibanananda Roy
ORDER
On April 26, 2017, the Superintendent of Financial Services (“Superintendent”) issued a Notice of Proposal to Refuse Application for a Life Insurance and Accident & Sickness Insurance agent licence to Jibanananda Roy (“Mr. Roy”). The Notice of Proposal was sent by mail and registered mail to the address listed in Mr. Roy’s application.
Mr. Roy had 15 days after service of the Notice of Proposal to file a request for hearing before the Financial Services Tribunal (“Tribunal”) in accordance with subsection 407.1(3) of the Insurance Act (the “Act”).
On May 23, 2017, the Registrar of the Tribunal confirmed that neither Mr. Roy, nor anyone on his behalf filed a request for hearing.
Subsection 407.1(7) of the Act provides that the Superintendent may carry out the proposal when no hearing has been requested.
ORDER
The application for a Life Insurance and Accident & Sickness Insurance agent licence of Jibanananda Roy is hereby refused.
